Hotel de Paris Opens Tour Season with Newly-Accessible Rooms

Hotel de Paris, a Site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, opens its 58th tour season to the public on Saturday, May 25.  Louis Dupuy's legendary Hotel de Paris dates to the silver mining boom, when it served as a first-class French restaurant, showroom for traveling salesmen, and luxurious accommodation during the Gilded Age.  This year, several rooms will be opened to visitors that were previously closed to the public.

The public will be allowed new opportunities to enter rooms once restricted to staff and advisors of Hotel de Paris Museum.  Visitors will explore the historic site from the guest, proprietor, and back of the house perspectives, as well as learn about preservation of this rare historical and cultural resource.

Hotel de Paris Museum displays a significant collection of objects from the hotel's past in restored period rooms.  Over 7,000 square feet remain furnished with faithful arrangements of historic artifacts that accurately and honestly tell the story of Frenchman Louis Dupuy, the "father of domestic science," and his amazing transformation from student, to apprentice, to journalist, to miner, to renowned host.  Dupuy's life is illustrated through photography, statuary, oil paintings, etchings, lithographs, books, maps, decorative arts, and culinary items.

The site is open daily May 25-September30, and on weekends October-December 15.  General admission is $5.  Discounts are available.

Hotel de Paris is located at 409 6th Street, Georgetown, CO, 80444.  Free public parking is located next to the museum.
